Short answer
Bermuda counts as international roaming for US carriers. AT&T’s International Day Pass and Verizon’s TravelPass both cost $12/day, so a week costs about $84. T-Mobile’s Go5G Plus and Magenta MAX plans include international data at no extra cost (5 GB at high speed). A Bermuda eSIM with 5 GB for 30 days costs $25.

Does Verizon work in Bermuda?
Yes, through TravelPass, which charges $12/day for each day you use your phone in Bermuda. It uses your normal plan’s allowance. If you don’t want to pay it, turn off data roaming and switch off the line before you arrive.
Does AT&T work in Bermuda?
Yes. The International Day Pass costs $12/day a day, plus $6 a day for each extra line on the account, and AT&T charges at most 10 days per bill cycle. On a cruise ship’s network at sea it’s $20 a day.
Does T-Mobile work in Bermuda?
Yes. On Go5G Plus and Magenta MAX, international data is included: 5 GB at high speed, then 256 kbps, which is slow but fine for messages. Other T-Mobile plans have different terms, so check yours in the T-Mobile app before you travel.
How much does a Bermuda trip cost on roaming vs an eSIM?
| Trip | AT&T / Verizon day pass | Bermuda eSIM (cheapest verified that fits) |
|---|---|---|
| 2-day cruise stop | $24 | Airalo 1 GB / 3 days ($6.50) |
| 3-day cruise stop | $36 | Airalo 3 GB / 3 days ($18) |
| 1 week | $84 | Nomad 5 GB / 30 days ($25) |
| 2 weeks | $120 (AT&T, 10-day cap) / $168 (Verizon) | Nomad 10 GB / 30 days ($35) |
For one person on a short trip the difference is modest. It grows with the length of the trip and the number of phones: a family of four on AT&T pays $12 + 3 × $6 = $30 a day.
When roaming is the better choice
- You’re on a T-Mobile plan that includes Bermuda and 5 GB is enough.
- You need calls and texts on your own number all day (most eSIMs are data only).
- Your phone doesn’t support eSIM or is locked to your carrier (check here).
How to avoid surprise roaming charges
- Before you land, turn off data roaming for your home line.
- If you don’t need your home number, switch the line off completely (iPhone: Settings → Cellular → tap the line → turn off “Turn On This Line”).
- Use the eSIM or Wi-Fi for data. WhatsApp, iMessage and FaceTime work over either.
- On a cruise, do this before the ship sails (see the cruise guide).
Common questions
Is Bermuda included in “Canada and Mexico” or North America plans?
